Interventional Radiology Malpractice

Florida Interventional Radiology Malpractice Attorney

Addressing Intervention Radiology Malpractice in Florida

Although interventional radiology was developed in an effort to minimize the number of complications that are suffered during traditional surgery, it is important to understand that there is still room for error. While these procedures do not require any type of incision, patients may still be at risk of injury or infection.

Statistics show that a significant number of the medical malpractice claims that are annually filed against radiologists stem from:

  • Vascular injuries that were sustained during a radiological exam (i.e. during angiography or interventional procedures)
  • Failure to diagnose or a delayed diagnosis

Regardless of the circumstances in which you were injured, our Florida medical malpractice attorneys would like to hear from you. If you or someone you love was injured by the negligent actions of your radiologist, you should not hesitate to seek rightful compensation. Our firm will ensure that you have the best chance at securing the damages that you deserve.

What is Interventional Radiology & How is it Used?

Interventional radiology is a relatively new sub-specialty of radiology which utilizes a series of images to guide minimally-invasive procedures. Instead of making large incisions to access certain parts of the body, as is typical in traditional surgery, a doctor can direct instruments through the body.

These kinds of procedures are performed through the use of:

  • X-ray
  • CT scan
  • MRI
  • Ultrasound

Not only can this eliminate the need for invasive surgery under the right circumstances, but these procedures use nothing more than small needles and catheter tubes. For this reason, the patient’s risk of post-surgical injuries and/or infections is often diminished. Even so, it is important to understand that things can and do, go wrong during interventional radiology procedures if the physician does not exercise an appropriate level of care.
